2.4.1 Safe to install
Measuring sound is our expertise, now available on the iPhone and iPod touch. Introducing NoiSee, a professional-grade sound level meter that offers intuitive functionality. Designed to meet or exceed class 2 requirements of ANSI and IEC standards, NoiSee is equipped with all the necessary tools expected from a top-tier sound level meter. Developed by a team with over 10 years of experience in calibration and ownership of a Sound Level Meter calibration laboratory meeting the ISO 17025 requirements for accuracy. The same calibration equipment used for the development of this app ensures precise measurements.
Important Note: NoiSee is compatible with iOS 10 or higher. Once installed, you can begin measuring immediately using the device's internal microphone. Our extensive testing with various iPhone models has shown that the readings obtained from the internal microphone are highly accurate compared to the microphone provided with in-ear headphones. The initial calibration of NoiSee was meticulously conducted in an anechoic chamber, dedicated to the calibration of professional Sound Level Meters. We strongly advise against modifying the initial calibration as the internal sensitivity of the microphones displays negligible variation across different iPhone models.
NoiSee maximizes the capabilities of your iPhone, utilizing its dynamic range (approximately 45 dB to 100 dB re. 20 uPa) and frequency response range (from 100 Hz to 8 kHz) to deliver precise results.
The app offers two distinct modes:
- Sound Level Meter: History view displays a one-minute time log of measured parameters. The Parameters view showcases all relevant statistics of the current measurement, including percentiles based on ISO standards. All essential time weighting options are available: Fast and Slow. Key sound measurement parameters are displayed, such as Leq, LCpeak, and SPL. Spectrum view provides a time-history representation of sound level with customized frequency and time-weighting. Careful attention has been given to the design of the CPB (Constant Percentage Bandwidth) frequency analysis to align with IEC 61260 and ANSI S1.11.
- Noise at Work: Includes parameters specifically compliant with Occupational Health guidelines, such as Noise DOSE and Elapsed time. Additional parameters like LEX 8h, Projected DOSE, and Time to reach 100% DOSE (in hh:mm:ss) offer comprehensive occupational noise analysis.
In the Settings section of the app, users can customize various options:
- Sound Level meter weightings: Frequency weighting and Time weighting.
- Noise at work parameters: Standard, Exchange rate, and Time Weighting.
- Microphone selection.
- Calibration.
NoiSee has undergone rigorous testing with the external microphone MicW i436, a calibrated measurement microphone adhering to Class 2 (IEC 61672) sound level meter standard. If an acoustic calibrator with a 1/4-inch adapter is used, NoiSee can perform automatic calibration for seamless accuracy.
With its sleek design, NoiSee offers optimal usability in any lighting conditions, making it the ideal tool for professional sound level measurements.
